Structure of SAP Basis
The core of the three-layer model is the application layer. This consists of one or more application servers and a message server. Companies use the application server to provide services for the operation of applications in SAP. The message server serves as an "intermediary" between the applications and services, for example, by controlling communication between the individual application servers and determining the load on the application servers. Furthermore, the data is prepared for the user in the application view so that the user can call up the data visually in the presentation layer. At the same time, the user data is forwarded to the database.
Basis includes a client/server architecture and configuration, a relational database management system (DBMS), and a graphical user interface (GUI). In addition to interfaces between system elements, Basis includes a development environment for R/3 applications, a data directory, and user and system administration and monitoring tools.
PROFESSIONALISE SAP OPERATION AND THE SAP WORLD
A trick often used by administrators is to allow for time buffers before starting the next job. The buffer times are necessary because it is not possible to predict exactly how long a job will take to complete, since the duration depends on many incalculable parameters. Since it makes little sense to run backups and SAP jobs at the same time, these tasks are usually done one after the other rather than in parallel. In more complex environments, data backup durations, time buffers and job runtimes add up to such an extent that the time available is no longer sufficient to perform all activities within the available time corridor. Tools that work with status dependencies and then automatically start the next job when its predecessor job has been processed without errors can help here.
This advanced training course on SAP administration will provide you with the skills you need to perform more in-depth administrative tasks on your SAP system. For example, SAP administration using WebAS with ABAP and Java, system configuration and system updates, applying patches and corrections, and updating users and authorizations. Furthermore, the program includes the setup of printers, knowledge of system security and system monitoring as well as transport functions. Not to forget the help system and data backup in your SAP systems.
Tools such as "Shortcut for SAP Systems" complement missing functions in the SAP basis area.
Another way to secure your gateway using the SAP standard is to encrypt communication using Secure Network Communication (SNC).
SAP Basis refers to the administration of SAP system that includes activities like installation and configuration, load balancing, and performance of SAP applications running on Java stack and SAP ABAP. This includes the maintenance of different services related to database, operating system, application and web servers in SAP system landscape and stopping and starting the system. These topics cover the areas of skills and roles (cloud and supplier management, strengthening of the technology architect, focus on project work), marketing and self-understanding (creation of a service catalogue, regular exchange with the CIO, renaming of the SAP basis), new technologies and innovation (test and innovation lab, proactive & regular training), organisation in change (development of the two subject areas close to structure and application-orientated , virtual teams of experts), standardisation and automation (automation of routine tasks, outtasking of rare tasks), "cloudability", outsourcing & outtasking (assessment of usefulness for the cloud, use of appropriate service forms) and IT roadmap (influence of own IT roadmap).
